Reasons Guys Lie
You may find that you have come across many guys in your past that seemed to portray that typical stereotype of ‘guys always lie’. And to be honest I don’t think it’s so much a stereotype as it is a fact! But why do they do it? Well there are a few reasons.

1. To Cover Their Asses

This of course is the biggest reason. They do something stupid and they try to cover their ass. Most of the time they know that you are going to get angry if they tell the truth, so they just lie. Sometimes though they are not sure whether you are going to get mad at them or not when they tell you the truth, so instead of rolling the dice and being honest – they lie. This ensures that they have a good chance of not being yelled at or looked at with disappointment.

One way you can tell if they are covering their ass is if they get really defensive about their explanation, and they start asking you why you always don’t trust them and have to ask a million questions. If they had nothing to hide then they wouldn’t get aggressively upset. They may get a little annoyed but not angry. And they wouldn’t try to make YOU feel guilty about the whole situation.

2. Because They Are Embarrassed

This is a lie that protects their pride. A good example is when you ask them if they really can afford to buy you that new dress and they say ‘YES, of course!’ and you then find out later that they missed a payment on their phone bill for that dress.

This lie is not meant to hurt you but instead meant to provide for you. They want you to view them as a man who can take care of you and give you what you want, and who is self-sufficient in life, so sometimes they tell a lie to make it seem like that when it’s not entirely true at that moment..

3. To Spare Your Feelings

They consider the honest answer an answer that is going to hurt your feelings or make you feel bad about yourself or your life, so they give you a better answer that they assume will spare your feelings. They really think they are doing the right thing here and most of the time don’t understand why women get so upset when they find out the truth.

4. They Have an Addiction

It’s surprising how many women find out their man had an addiction after the relationship instead of in the relationship. But these men are expert liars and can convince you of anything using all of their lying abilities. These men will lie about almost every part of their life instead of let their woman know about their addiction.

This ‘addiction’ could also include cheating. The signs are pretty much the same, and cheaters are just as good of liars as addicts are.

If you find that nothing seems to make sense ever, then this may be the reason. A few things to watch for are money that disappears, time that isn’t accounted for, lots of short breaks from each other, and a sudden urge or panic attack. These are signs of an addiction taking place.

Whatever the reason a man lies for it’s not good enough. Lying in a relationship is really not needed if the relationship is healthy. If your man is lying to you on a regular basis then he doesn’t trust you to know his truth, and that shows a sense of disconnection between you two that should be there.
